Fact Sheet

  • Through its listener contributions RFPI has built two buildings adjacent to the University for Peace.

  • The land where our building stands is international ground and was donated by the United Nations.

  • RFPI has documentation, signed by the University for Peace Vice-Rector, showing that we have permission to build the building and exclusively occupy and operate from it.

  • The radio station has operated through 5 University for Peace administrations in total harmony and co-operation.

  • The Radio Station has received various awards for its public services, including from:

    • The Ministry of Education of Costa Rica;

    • Rotary Club International;

    • Colorado Cross Disability Coalition;

    • University for Peace;

    • Red Cross of Costa Rica.

  • RFPI is the major outlet for UN radio programs on short wave, broadcasting daily UN programs.

  • RFPI helped produce videos and radio programs to promote the University for Peace programs.

  • RFPI has done public relations for the University for Peace events.

  • RFPI has helped UPeace set up their home-stay program in Ciudad Colón for their students.
